Some colors just make me happy. Especially when they’re part of such a super sweet, lovely wedding as was Kerry’s and Alex’s this last September. Kerry’s smile struck me right away at our first consultation. It made perfect sense that someone with her inner sunshine would choose the vibrant, cheerful color palette that she and Alex did for their wedding aboard the MV Skansonia.
We filled the boat with late summer flowers in orange, white, and green tones: dahlias, zinnias, lilies, amaranthus, Queen Anne’s lace, and long-reaching bittersweet branches for the altar arch. Taylor’d Events brought the nautical touch to the tables with navy napkins to coordinate with the attendant gowns — as well as did a gazillion other things that day! I loved the contrast of the bright flowers against the dark navy. Just goes to show that color theory is alive and well (you know, orange being the compliment of blue and all that…)
Angela and Evan’s gorgeous images are testimony to how thoughtful Kerry was about the floral plan. Knowing that Alex would be in a full gown and carrying flowers (while her own outfit was more streamlined and without flowers), she wisely suggested that our asymmetrical floral design sit on the left corner of the altar arch, opposite her bride. It was all about balance. And shouldn’t it always be?
Congratulations, Kerry and Alex! Here’s to many more years of balance and beauty in your lives!
